SHEPHERD:

A Novel of Grief, Faith, and the Dogs That Stay

Shepherd is the story of a broken woman on the edge of ending her life—a wife and mother crushed by grief, guilt, and silence. What begins as the unraveling of faith becomes the unlikely path back to it, guided by family, the quiet persistence of love, and the dogs who refuse to let her go.

At its heart, Shepherd is a universal story of despair, resilience, and redemption. It reminds us that sometimes the most ordinary companions are the ones who pull us back from the brink—and that in welcoming them, we may be welcoming angels without even knowing it.

SHEPHERD

Don’t neglect to show hospitality,For by doing this some have welcomed angels without knowing it.- Hebrews 13:2

Especially one like this.

But here I am—hovering three clouds away from the High Council chambers—trying to figure out how to explain the catastrophe that cost me my partner… and nearly cost me my wings.

The official record will say it began with a breach.

A WAG—Warrior Angel Guardian Specialist—intervened, interfered, and intruded. The triple I’s. The only real rule we have. The one you don’t break. Not unless you’re ready to fall.

That’s exactly what Pluto did.

Fell.

On purpose.

So yeah… now I’m supposed to explain that.

Explain how a top-ranked WAG gave it all up for one fragile, grief-strangled Earth Suit.

Explain how I—his best friend, his field partner, his backup—let him do it.

Except, and here’s the part I don’t want to put in the official report:
